Season Highlights
Our Robot "Luke Skystone"

This season we were lucky enough to be able to build a second drivetrain. This allowed us to continue to have drive practice, compete in qualifiers and refine coding all while we developed our lift system on a second drivetrain. Our initial robot is named Darth Matter and our final robot is named Luke Skystone.

Drivetrain

Custom 6 Wheel Drop Center chosen for its maneuverability and smooth turning.

Gripper Intake

Has one stationary side and one side attached to a servo that rotates and opens and closes the gripper. Gripper hangs from a shaft in bearings which keeps it level with the ground as it turns.

Lift & Pivot

xrail lift system and pivot arm allows us to intake from one side and place from the other minimizing turning. Our goal was to make a good feeder bot and stacking bot to compliment alliance partners.

Latches

“L” shaped latches built from beams connected at a 90º angle. Mounted in servo blocks, attached at front of robot, each powered by a servo to rotate latches up and down to grab foundation for movement.

Capstone

Capstone designed with opening to allow it to sit on the skystone in multiple directions. Shaped like a skystone for handling just as a block.

Outreach

Community Outreach helps build enthusiasm and support for FIRST and for STEM fields. The vision that drives FIRST is a goal to “transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders.” -Dean Kamen, Founder
